From Resurrection To Rebuilding

Watch Our Resurrection Sunday Replay ...

Post Resurrection Blessings To YOU Family,

I pray your Resurrection Weekend was refreshing to you in every way. I wanted to take the time to personally share some of what we experienced at our "From Resurrection to Rebuilding" Service.

Message Summary:

This Resurrection Sunday sermon connects the power of Christ's resurrection to the call for believers to rebuild broken areas of their lives. We pointed out that Jesus didn't just come to just save souls for eternity, but to give abundant life now through the process of rebuilding what has been torn down.

Using Nehemiah's story of rebuilding Jerusalem's walls, we explained how salvation is just the beginning - believers must actively participate in reconstructing broken relationships, habits, mindsets, and spiritual walls that protect them from the enemy. The message challenges the entire JHOW family to move beyond just celebrating resurrection to actively engaging in the hard work of spiritual reconstruction.

This requires honest assessment of broken areas, the power of the Holy Spirit, and the right community of believers to serve as a "work crew."

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the incredible gift of Your Son's resurrection and the new life it brings to each of us. We ask that you would open our hearts and minds to receive what you want to teach us through Your Word.

Help us to be honest about the areas in our lives that need rebuilding and give us the courage to take the necessary steps toward spiritual growth. May Your Holy Spirit guide our discussion and draw us closer to You and to one another. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Food For Thought:

If you could renovate or rebuild one room in your house with unlimited resources, which room would you choose and why?

Key Verses

  • - John 3:16
  • - John 10:10
  • - Nehemiah 2:18

Questions:

  • What does it mean that Jesus came not just to save us but to give us abundant life? How have you experienced this abundance in your own life?
  •
  • What do you think this means, and how might it apply to your life? "A saved soul without rebuilt walls really doesn't look saved at all."

  • What are some 'broken walls' or areas in your life that need rebuilding? How can you tell the difference between needing a 'fresh coat of paint' versus needing 'demolition and excavation'?
  •
  • Why do you think rebuilding always creates resistance? What kinds of resistance have you faced when trying to make positive changes in your life?
  •
  • The sermon mentions that sometimes our greatest resistance comes from within ourselves. What internal obstacles do you face when trying to grow spiritually?
  •
  • How important is having the right 'work crew' or community when rebuilding areas of your life? Who are the people God has placed in your life to help with this process?

  • What's the difference between 'turning over a new leaf' and experiencing true resurrection power in your life?

Life Application:

This week, identify one specific area of your life that needs rebuilding rather than just surface-level improvement. Commit to taking one concrete step toward addressing this area, whether that's seeking help from a trusted friend, establishing a new healthy habit, or removing something that's been holding you back. Ask God to show you what 'excavation' might be needed before 'renovation' can begin.

Closing Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank You for Your resurrection power that not only saves us but empowers us to rebuild every broken area of our lives. We confess that we have areas that need more than surface-level changes - we need Your transforming power to tear down and rebuild. Give us the courage to be honest about what needs to change and the strength to do the hard work of spiritual reconstruction. Help us to surround ourselves with the right people who will encourage us in this process. May our rebuilt lives bring glory to You and be a testimony of Your resurrection power. In Your mighty name we pray, Amen.
